Why Did My Homeowners Insurance Go Up?
admin
I just took out a 27,000 home equity loan last month. This is my first mortgage as the house was paid off. I just got a letter from my insurance company saying that my homeowners insurance is going up $70 because of the change. Is this normal?

You should ask your agent why this happened. One reason could be that your company gives a discount for not having a leinholder. When you got a HELOC, that discount went away. Also you may have taken out more money on the house than you had it insured for at the time. Maybe they (mortgage broker and insurance company) adjusted your Dwelling Coverage without your knowledge?

Something sounds fishy.
Did your insurance agent rewrite the policy? Maybe you lost some discount?
They should have just added the mortgage company which would be no additional charge. Call and ask them. Something does not sound right. -

coverage needed to be adjusted due to the home equity line most likely. Call your agent to find out exactly why the premium went up.

It is an extremely expensive area to live in. He might have to find a place thirty to fifty miles away. Rough driving conditions in the winter though.

How Can It Be Legal For A Medical Insurance Company To Deny Benefits To A Customer?
admin
Isn’t that the whole reason for paying for insurance? Shouldn’t all conditions, ailments, and injuries be covered? If not, then way are we paying into insurance?
Why isn’t their an insurance company out there that can provide this kind of service?
I don’t think the US Government should allow companies to operate that offer insurance and then deny benefits to someone who has been paying for coverage.-

An insurance company is out to make a profit for it’s shareholders. It does this by estimating risk and assessing costs predicted to cover the risks and allow for profit.
To do this, they write out contracts, called policies, that lay out what risks they are willing to cover and what limitations apply. If they didn’t do this, they would be cheating their stockholders.
All benefits must have limits. This is because there is a finite pie to pass out. If they payed the multi-million dollars required to service one patient to the limits of modern medical care, they would deplete the very reserve needed to meet their other obligations.
The plain truth is that it is a business like any other. Not a church, not a moral exercise and not without constraints. -

look for one that covers what you have or start your own company

Have insurance company not sent you a certificate or cover note? If so produce that to the police. Either way get in touch with your insurance company and citizens advice if no joy.

The insurance company should inform you by letter if the cover is being withdrawn, but to do it like this and carry on drawing the installements is tantamount to fraud.

Did one of your direct debt payments bounce?
If so… a non-sufficient funds can and will result in your insurance being canceled. All it takes is one payment to be missed or bounced.
Before you go to your agents office and jump up and down – yelling – making demands and acting a fool of yourself—— try walking calmly into your agents office and letting him know what happened and ask them to look into it.
Most likely this is not an insurance company mistake. I’m not going to say they don’t happen – they do – rarely. Usually a situation like this results because a payment was missed or an NSF occurred.

Other than the fact that you should be carrying papers to prove that you’re covered by insurance, I don’t think that the police officers have anyway of verifying that you do, or do not, have insurance.
Law enforcement doesn’t call the insurance company.
I would call your company and get them to send out proof of payment and proof of insurance on the date that you were pulled over and then take both to the court house.
Do it quickly though. Some places you only have 10 days to show proof of insurance or you have to pay court fees or a fine.

Insurance companies have a fail safe system so that if your not covered payments won’t come out. If they were doing this the FSA would come down on them like a ton of bricks so I’m sure they wouldn’t do so.
I get people all the time who have been stopped by the police and claim to have insurance and blame it on the insurer – This is a classic example of what people say.
Not calling you a liar – but the police may think that (Its the oldest one in the book)
If you can prove to the police and insurer that you have been paying then you may have a case, my only guess is that you may have additional cover (i.e courtesy car package) which may not have been cancled. But again – Insurance companies operate a failsafe system to stop this happening.
The policy has to be “live” before a direct debit could be setup and they would 100% notify you by phone or letter, if they attempted to contact you and got neither – your outta luck!

As long as you can prove that you have paid, I see no problems.
